Location

CVM: SNNP Regional State (South Omo, Hamer Woreda, Kebele of Kara Korcho, Kara Dus and Kara Lebuok, Gamo Gofa, Demba Gofa Woreda, Sawla). VIS: Somali Region. LVIA: Afar Region.

The iniative, launched in 2009, is currently in its third phase with the objective of promoting risk reduction and resilience building. Beneficiaries are vulnerable people and refugees in South Ethiopia. The intervention focuses on improving the capacity of prevention, mitigation and response to the Humanitarian crises in water and environment sectors. In particular, it addresses the emergency and chronic vulnerability of specific areas of the Country. The duration of this initiative is 12 months from the approval of POG (2 September 2014). In continuation of the first two phases of the program, this third phase targets priorities identified by the Government of Ethiopia, such as the strengthening of resilience in the fields of Water, Environment, Land, and Natural Resource Management. Main outcome

Best practices of access to safe and sustainable water sources and their management from Phase II are up-scaled and increased.
