The collapse of the Taliban regime in 2001 raised great hopes among the Afghan people and the international community of achieving a peaceful, democratic and stable Afghanistan. To help efforts to build lasting peace, a priority is to assist insurgents who renounce violence and accept the constitution, and to reintegrate them as productive members of their communities. The Government of Afghanistan has established the Afghan Peace and Reintegration Programme to strenghten the capacity of national and subnational institutions to support the peace process. APRP is a national led and implemented and combines the political, security and development dimensions of peace building. read more close
