The use of radio and TV for educational purposes has incremented in the last years in Afghanistan. ERTV - Educational Radio and TV Afghanistan - was founded in 1969 with three purposes: teacher training, adult education and programs for school students. Following the years of internal conflict, its building and equipment were badly damaged. Since 2003 the Government of Italy has funded UNESCO to support the renovation of ERTV premises and equipment, and has provided extensive training to its staff. The aim of the project is to enhance and strengthen the capacities of ERTV, both in programming and in technical matters, and to expand ERTV's broadcast capacity to reach audiences nationwide. read more close
