Under the framework of the “Adopt a School Initiative”, this project will directly address the increasing demand and need for quality education and comprehensive education reform, by covering the costs required to ensure that UNRWA’s Al Shouka Preparatory Girls and Elementary Co-ed School, in Gaza Strip, provides its students with positive educational environment in which to grow and achieve. read more close

Main outcome

The school environment, learning process, and the wellbeing of students in Al Shouka in Gaza improved, thereby materially contributing to better academic achievement. The project will contribute to the improved learning outcomes of 1,610 students enrolled of which 765 are enrolled in Al Shouka Preparatory Girls School and 845 students enrolled in Al Shouka Boys School. UNRWA anticipates that the students who benefit from the comprehensive educational reform efforts will over the medium-term exhibit improved academic achievement from previous years. Without additional support, many of these students will not go on to complete school or achieve their full academic potential. This is of particular concern considering the dire economic circumstance faced by many of these students, pervasive unemployment and increased competition for the very limited supply of jobs available in Gaza.
