Project Scope "SRI-ECO - Integrated Rural Development Ecosustainable in Sri Lanka." The project, ICEI in consortium with the NGO OVERSEAS, is co-financed by the MAE-DGCS, and lasts three years. The project aims to promote local and rural development in the districts of Ampara and Monoragala, by supporting the creation and growth of micro and small enterprises associative / cooperative / social enterprises, in some productive sectors and services. The project contributes to the resolution of the socio-economic problems of the rural vulnerable population of Sry Lanka, strengthening the so-called enabling environment to foster the development of the local endogenous production. read more close

Main outcome

Strengthening agricultural governance through actions to promote public-private synergy, with the active involvement of the public sector to respond more effectively to the needs of the agricultural sector.

Beneficiaries

The wide range of categories of beneficiaries includes the local authorities of the seven villages in the two districts of intervention, the local departments of agriculture, at least 250 micro and small enterprises in the areas of agribusiness and tourism, about 1200 small farmers and marginal operators / employees in the tourism industry, about 5000 rice producers, who will have access to a new technology (bio-liquid fertilizer), at least 10000 people will be reached by awareness campaigns.
