Beneficiaries

The direct beneficiaries are 2188 families - about 10940 people, half of them women - members of grassroots associations represented in Mesa Provincial de Cacao. They are peasant families, owning small land unproductive (Micro-funds) in forestry management, that they use for their own consumption and, in part, for the cultivation of cocoa (4 ha per family on average). It 'a young population (50% under 20 years), ethnic mestiza (45%, the central-south of Esmeraldas), Afro-Ecuadorian (52%, the north) and indigenous (3%). Beneficiaries live in the rural area of the region, where the index of unsatisfied basic needs is extremely high (93.3%), compared to a regional average of 76.8%
