Description

The aim of the programme is to improve the health status of the Ethiopian population, according to the National Health Strategic Plan (HSDP) and in line with the MDGs related to health. Italy supports the Health Sector Development Programme at the central level (Federal Ministry of Health), through participation in a multi-donor fund called MDG Fund and, at peripheral level, through specific activities in two regions of intervention (Oromia and Tigray). The execution of activities relating to the MDG fund is entrusted to the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia (FMoH). This component goes in the direction of a growing array of international aid mechanisms and includes the strengthening of the health information system (Health Management Information System - HMIS). The implementation of activities dedicated to the Regions Oromia and Tigray is instead entrusted to the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH), together with the Regional Health Bureaus of the two regions of intervention. The program started in 2011 and is almost completed. read more close
