INTERNATIONAL UNION FOR CONSERVATIO N OF NATURE

Description

The project aims to improve the standards of living of people adjacent to protected areas in the Great Limpopo Trans-Frontier Conservation Area (GLTFCA) and its purpose is to assist in developing integrated and sustainable land and natural resource management systems and institutions and “value added” community based Trans-Boundary Natural Resource Management (TBNRM) projects within the GLTFCA. The programme contribute to fill gaps in the planning and development of rural areas outside the core Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park (GLTP) area and to ensure that the interests of the rural communities are safeguarded, while the communities benefit from the Trans-Frontier Conservation Area (TFCA) initiative as much as do the conservation agencies, the commercial interests based on natural resource uses and the environment itself. At the same time, the programme intends to support the gradual development of a broad planning framework for the TFCA through policy analysis and dialogue, sharing of experiences and expertise. read more close
