Description

The Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund, administrated by the World Bank and ongoing since 2002, is the main financing mechanism to sustain the Afghanistan budget. The trust is constituted by two main financing windows: the recurrent cost window and the investment cost window, on which the donors can express their preference on the various programs that are financed through the ARTF. As today, 33 donor countries contributed with 7.03 billion USD. The ten major donors contribute for over 90% of the total amount. Italy is the 11th country, with a 1.5% on the total amount. Since 2002 Italy contributed to the ARTF 110.2 million USD (77,55 million Euros + 17 million USD). Since 2008 Italy earmarked its contribution on some programs, in particular in the justice, agriculture and rural development and education sectors.
